Program Philosophy
Our staff constructs goals and objectives based upon research of developmentally-appropriate practice. We have designed the program to meet the individual needs of each child while providing positive group experiences. Daily schedules and curriculums should stimulate the children and encorage them to develop new skills.
Program Goals:
- The child will develop increased self-confidence.
- The child will explore and retain the YMCA core values: Honesty, Caring, Respect and Responsibility.
- The child will gain an appreciation for human diversity.
- The child will relate positively to otheres.
- The child will use appropriate materials and actions as an outlet for self-expression.
- The child will develop a healthy body-image and explore his/her physical competency.

As a member of the Ligonier YMCA you have access to high quality child care while you are using YMCA facilities. This is a free service for members. There are limited spaces available. Please check at the front desk.
Morning hours:
M-F 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Evening hours:
M-TR: 4:30-8:00 PM
A parent/guardian must stay in the facility if child attends Child Watch. Child Watch staff will have you paged to change your child’s diaper or if your child needs you while in care. If parent/guardian leaves the building while child remains in Child Watch the YMCA permanently suspends the family from Child Watch service. |

Families may enroll their child in the programs listed and add variable hours and scheduling according to their child care needs, 6:15 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Activities may include music and movement, group games, outdoor/gross motor play, food experiences, and healthy snacks. |

Baby's first years are a whirlwind of discovery and growth. Our staff works with your family to build a caring connection that will guide your baby through these critical stages of development. Your infant's basic needs are met according to his/her routine. The staff also stimulates your baby by singing, talking, holding, and reading to him/her, encouraging cognitive connections. |

Parent-Tot Playgroup.
We invite very young children, with a parent or caregiver, to join us in a weekly playgroup. This fun-filled class offers adult and toddler (ages 16-35 months) an opportunity to interact together in a creative environment every Tuesday morning from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m.
Sessions include:
- Imaginative free play
- Outdoor walks and play
- Healthy snacks
- Craft activities
- Circle time songs
- Story-telling

For ages 4 & 5
We construct our Pre-K program to prepare your child for successful entry into kindergarten. The educators introduce scheduling and activities that help ease the transition to elementary school, and offer your child the experiences necessary to build key developmental skills that make him/her an enthusiastic, lifetime learner.
We offer the Pre-K program from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with extended day options for those families who need additional care. Families may choose to attend 4 or 5 days per week. |

For ages 3 & 4
Preschoolers engage in hands-on activites designed to introduce him/her to basic learning objectives in a meaningful way.
Children explore, discover solutions independently, and work together in small groups.
We offer Preschool classes Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., with extended day opportunities for those families who need full-day care. Families may choose to attend 2-5 days per week. |
